Dennis Farina Arrested At LAX After Gun Found In Luggage

Actor Dennis Farina was charged with a felony Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after a loaded gun was found in his carry-on luggage.


When the weapon was discovered at a security checkpoint, the 64-year-old actor said he had forgotten the .22-caliber handgun was in his luggage, police said.

Farina was booked for investigation of carrying a concealed weapon, said Sgt. Dennis Beacham. Bail was set at $25,000 before police discovered the weapon was not registered. Charges were upgraded to a felony, and he is now being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Farina's latest film, the Ashton Kutcher-Cameron Diaz comedy "What Happens in Vegas," opened Friday.

Farina has starred in TV's "Law & Order" series and in such movies as "Snatch" and "Get Shorty." The actor is also a former Chicago police officer.

Calls to Farina's lawyer and agent were not returned Sunday

Jimmy Fallon To Take Over "Late Night" From Conan O'Brien

Jimmy Fallon will officially be given the keys to NBC's "Late Night" franchise following Conan O'Brien's exit.

A person close to the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement hadn't been made confirmed the widely rumored change Sunday and said a news conference was planned for Monday.

All that's left is an official date for NBC's transition: O'Brien moving out West to take over for Jay Leno on the "Tonight" show and Fallon following in the next time slot.

Fallon was a "Saturday Night Live" cast member before leaving for a movie career in 2004. He has had mixed success, with his most notable role as a childlike Boston Red Sox fan and Drew Barrymore's paramour in "Fever Pitch."

He signed a deal with NBC in 2007 that was widely seen as a way to keep him in the fold until the time came for Monday's announcement.

It would be hard for him to have a rockier transition than O'Brien had when he took over from David Letterman in the mid-1990s. O'Brien was a writer with a quick sense of humor but a mystery to the television audience, and he was savaged in early reviews. NBC nearly fired him but persevered, and O'Brien grew into the role.

It was in large part to keep O'Brien happy that NBC announced four years ago that he would replace Leno next year.

While Leno went along with the plan, there are reports that the workaholic comic is not eager to leave. NBC Universal is trying to find a job that would satisfy him and avoid having Leno move to ABC or Fox to compete directly against O'Brien.

NBC could decide to back out of the plan and keep Leno on "Tonight," but O'Brien's contract calls for a penalty fee reportedly close to $40 million.

It all amounts to a roll of the dice in late-night, where NBC has stayed on top despite the network's prime-time problems.

NBC's announcement opens network television's "upfront" week, when fall schedules are set and presented to advertisers. NBC took the unusual step of announcing its schedule a month ago, and it has invited advertisers for a Monday sales presentation emphasizing all of NBC Universal's properties.

"Speed Racer" Fails As "Iron Man" Continues To Soar

The first box office casualty of the summer came this weekend as "Speed Racer" crashed and burned at the box office. "Speed Racer" opened with a devastating and disappointing $20.2 Million. "Speed Racer", with a budget of approximately $160 million dollars, placed second behind last week's box office champion, "Iron Man".
Warner Bros. will now have to pin their summer's box office success on "The Dark Knight" which opens on July 18th.

In what has become a hotly debated topic on the internet, a pic has surfaced that supposedly shows one of The Batman's arch foes, Two Face, from the upcoming "The Dark Knight". Marvel Prepares Big Screen Version Of "The Avengers"

Following this weekend's box office success for "Iron Man", Marvel has announced their official intention of launching "The Avengers". In one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, Marvel has long indicated their desire to spin off future films and use the established actors in their upcoming films (Robert Downey, Jr. from "Iron Man" and Edward Norton from the upcoming "The Incredible Hulk") to reprise the roles in an "Avengers" movie. Now, Marvel has officially announced their intentions.

Marvel today updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises. In order to focus its attention on maximizing the success of an Iron Man sequel and the launch of Thor in the summer of 2010 and because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property, the Company will not release a self produced film in 2009. Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer – a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011.

Brea Grant Joins The Cast Of "Heroes"

As the new season of "Heroes" approaches, a new cast member has been announced whose character will have powers similar to DC Comics hero, The Flash.
Brea Grant, who played Jean Binnel on “Friday Night Lights,” will join the sci-fi series as a girl with superspeed.
